This FHR program emphasizes the acquisition of expert decision making skills using case presentations and clinical scenarios. Participants must have a basic understanding of FHR terminology and tracing evaluation as a prerequisite for attendance. Participants will improve their ability to evaluate FHR tracings consistently and accurately utilizing a well-defined interpretive framework, and evaluate FHR tracings in the context of complicated patient scenarios.

Highlights will include guidelines, treatment and management strategies for the mother/ infant dyad. Direct care nurses face psychosocial challenges when caring for these families. Class participants will come away with greater insight surrounding this national epidemic, care-giver strategies aimed to avoid stigma, nurse burn-out, and hopefulness to improve family health.
