Simulation for Obstetric and Neonatal Emergencies

This class focuses on unexpected obstetric emergencies and will allow the participants to actively engage in... “hands-on” skills within the OB department. Attendees will participate in two low fidelity in situ emergency simulations as a multidisciplinary team. Each team performance will highlight the importance of role definitions and identify methods to enhance clear team communication during an emergency. Patient safety, escalation of care, and rapid response techniques aimed to reduce maternal morbidity and death will be discussed. Both simulations will be video recorded and include interactive debriefing sessions.
