Objectives:
Upon completion of this program the participant will be able to:

  • Examine how cultural influences including technology and the media shape women’s attitudes about labor and birth
  • Incorporate optimality measures as a metric to improve birth outcomes for women and infants
  • Examine the neurobiology of neonatal pain
  • Integrate measures to identify and manage neonatal pain
  • Cite the five perinatal core measures endorsed by The Joint Commission
  • Review evidence based nursing interventions that enhance quality and provide safety for hospitalized women and infants
