Course Description

Healthcare work is deeply human—and often emotionally demanding. This course introduces Rational Compassion and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) as practical communication tools for navigating conflict at work, whether that conflict is the internal kind you take home with you at the end of a shift, or interpersonal conflict between colleagues. Designed for nurses and other healthcare professionals, the course focuses on real situations: high-pressure environments, team tensions, difficult conversations with patients and families, and the ongoing challenge of caring without burning out.

Participants will learn how to recognize emotional triggers, respond rather than react, and communicate with clarity, empathy, and professional integrity—even in moments of conflict. By integrating self-compassion with effective communication strategies, the course supports healthier relationships, improved teamwork, and greater emotional resilience on the job.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Course Objectives:

  • Understand the principles of Rational Compassion and Nonviolent Communication
  • Identify and manage internal conflict, stress, and emotional overload
  • Communicate needs and boundaries clearly and respectfully
  • Foster a more collaborative, compassionate, and sustainable work environment
