Class Information

This course focuses on the early recognition and treatment of the pediatric patient with sepsis.  We will review incidence, prevalence and severity of sepsis as well as discuss the nomenclature around sepsis.  We will also discuss shock as it relates to sepsis and identify treatment options and interventions.  This class is offered online.

Objectives

  • Compare the different types of sepsis with emphasis on treatment and pathophysiology
  • Discuss the importance of early recognition of the pediatric patient in sepsis and/or shock
  • Review the literature on terminology, treatment and interventions
