Program Description:
This simulation session focuses on case scenarios and allows participants to actively engage in “hands-on” skills within your department. Team performance will be enhanced and improved communication techniques will be identified. This session will include information on patient safety and emergency team response. Attendees will participate in two low fidelity in situ emergency simulations as a multidisciplinary team. The simulations will be video recorded and debriefing sessions will follow each simulation.
Upon completion of this program the participant will be able to:
1. Define situation awareness and explain how it impacts team performance
2. Describe a shared mental model and its importance in team work
3. List four strategies for successful team communication
4. Discuss strategies for follow up, including lessons learned, and use of participant feedback
