Stabilization and Transportation of the Pediatric Patient

Class Information

This course will cover the recognition of the pediatric patient in need of transportation, as well as optimal techniques for the stabilization of this patient, the goal being a multidisciplinary plan to ensure the best outcomes. This course can be taken online, but can also be taught using a hybrid didactic/simulation (in person) model.  If the simulation portion is requested, an additional hour will be required.

Objectives

  • Understand the steps necessary in the stabilization of the pediatric patient
  • Describe the personnel, special equipment, and support needed to prepare for the transport
  • Collaborate, communicate effectively, execute care, and manage time and resources to contribute to best outcomes during transport handoff
