The goal of this course is to provide a broad overview of pediatric nursing.  This course may be appropriate for either new graduate nurses, or nurses with an adult background who are transitioning to a pediatric patient population.  The first focus of the course will be on pediatric assessment, followed by a discussion of pediatric specific diagnoses and an introduction to developmentally appropriate techniques to improve patient and family satisfaction as well as outcomes.  Pediatric emergencies will also be discussed.  

Objectives:

• Provide a thorough discussion of pediatric assessment
• Discuss strategies to collaborate with families to provide optimal care of pediatric patients
• Review pediatric emergencies and pediatric specific diagnoses
