Class Information

The goal of this course is to provide a broad overview of pediatric nursing.  This course may be appropriate for either new graduate nurses, or nurses with an adult background who are transitioning to a pediatric patient population.  The first focus of the course will be on pediatric assessment, followed by a discussion of pediatric specific diagnoses and an introduction to developmentally appropriate techniques to improve patient and family satisfaction as well as outcomes.  Pediatric emergencies will also be discussed.  This class is offered online as well as in person.

Objectives

  • Provide a thorough discussion of pediatric assessment
  • Discuss strategies to collaborate with families to provide optimal care of pediatric patients
  • Review pediatric emergencies and pediatric specific diagnoses
