Class Information

Asthma is the most common chronic condition in the pediatric setting, as such asthma exacerbations are common reason for families to utilize the Emergency Department. The focus of this course is to provide a brief overview of pediatric asthma and review the initial treatment guidelines and management in the hospital setting. 

Objectives:

  • Review asthma pathophysiology
  • Examine pediatric asthma categories and treatment modalities for each category
  • Identify symptom assessments and risk factors for pediatric asthma
  • Summarize patient and family education opportunities
