Class Information

The goal of this course is to encourage familiarity with the skills needed to perform a neurological exam of pediatric patients of all ages.  The first focus of the course will be on assessment by age, and the tools shown by evidence-based practice to provide effective evaluation of neurological status.  The course will also review common injuries and illnesses that affect the neurological system of pediatric patients.  Treatments and interventions will be discussed, as well as strategies to improve patient outcomes and prevent unwanted unintentional sequelae.  This course is offered online.

Objectives

  • Provide a thorough discussion of pediatric neurological assessment
  • Discuss evidence-based treatment modalities to ensure effective management, improve outcomes, and prevent iatrogenic sequelae
  • Review pediatric neurological diagnoses and emergencies
