  •  Give better patient care due to an enhanced knowledge of laboratory tests and the interpretation of the results of these tests 
  • Name and discuss at least three lab specimen collection considerations and their nursing implications. 
  • Name and discuss at least four components of the blood gas interpretation lab test, and the nursing implications of the test.  
  • Discuss the pathophysiology of HIE
  • Describe the process of Therapeutic Hypothermia in reducing brain injury 
  • Discuss the nursing care involved in stabilizing the infant with HIE for transport
