Class Information
The 2024 Collaborative Approaches to Infant Prenatal Substance Exposure: Enhancing Care and Support for Families aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of professionals working with pregnant caregivers experiencing substance use and infants with substance use exposure. This one-day conference will bring together multi-disciplinary experts to provide education on best practices and innovative strategies for supporting infants and families affected by substance use during pregnancy. Attendees will benefit from interactive presentations, case studies, and discussions that promote collaboration and practical application of skills in clinical and community settings.
The symposium is designed for all professionals engaged in supporting families facing prenatal substance exposure, including medical providers, social workers, nurse practitioners, nurses, mental health professionals, and community service providers. This event will foster connections among peers and offer valuable insights to improve outcomes for vulnerable families.

At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:
- Enhance skills in recognizing and understanding the impacts of prenatal substance exposure on infants and families, utilizing evidence-based and best practice guidelines.
- Apply a multi-disciplinary collaborative approach to support and care for families affected by prenatal substance exposure.
- Integrate trauma-informed practices to engage with families and provide appropriate referrals to community resources and services.
- Navigate ethical considerations and legal responsibilities related to supporting families experiencing prenatal substance exposure.

Public transportation
The Pritzker Building is served directly by the SF Muni T-Third Street light rail line, as well as nearby stops for the 15-Bayview Hunters Point Express, 22-Fillmore, 48-Quintara/24th Street, and 55-Dogpatch bus lines.

UCSF Tan shuttle
Patients and visitors can utilize the UCSF Tan shuttle line, which operates between the Pritzker Building and Weill Institute Building on the Mission Bay campus. It operates on weekdays (Monday–Friday) during the following times:
- 6:30–9:15 a.m.
- 3:15–6:00 p.m.

Parking
Valet parking is available in the Pritzker Building garage for patients and visitors at the rate of $5 per hour (or $35 maximum per day). Visitors can enter the garage on 3rd Street between 18th and 19th Streets on weekdays between 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. To exit the garage after hours, visitors can retreive keys/vehicles from the security desk on the first floor.
Patients and visitors can also park in the UCSF Illinois Street Garage, located just one block from the Pritzker Building. Additional UCSF garages are also available on the Mission Bay campus.
Metered street parking is available on a limited basis in the surrounding neighborhood. Please be sure to observe and obey all posted time limits.
