Class Information
Participants will:
- Describe the normal cardiovascular physiologic changes of pregnancy and explain how these changes impact patients with underlying cardiac disease, such as cardiomyopathy, congenital heart disease, and valvular disorders.
- Analyze clinical signs and symptoms in pregnant or postpartum patients to distinguish normal physiologic discomforts of pregnancy from warning signs of cardiac decompensation.
- Evaluate complex clinical scenarios involving pregnant or postpartum patients with cardiac disease and prioritize appropriate nursing actions, escalation of care, and multidisciplinary collaboration to optimize maternal and fetal outcomes.
