Class Information
This course provides nurses with a comprehensive overview of pediatric diabetes management with a specific focus on the safe and effective use of continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) and other personal diabetes devices across home and hospital settings. Participants will explore current technologies, including CGMs, insulin pumps, and hybrid closed-loop systems, and examine how these devices support glycemic control in children and adolescents with diabetes. The course emphasizes nursing roles in device assessment, troubleshooting, documentation, and family education, as well as considerations for transitioning care between home and inpatient environments. Real-world scenarios will highlight best practices for integrating personal diabetes devices into hospital care while maintaining patient safety, promoting autonomy, and supporting family-centered care.
